Social Media Ethics: lj 9.
After watching the videos and reading through some of the readings I find that sometimes I seem to use the EWOM to look for products myself and reviews of businesses to consult for assistance in what I am looking to do. Although I have never really looked through any sites such as Etsy or some of the others that have been mentioned I find that I use and search more for reviews. Just recently I was looking for an attorney for a friend and used some of the Google reviews to look for one that was more qualified and would be the most helpful in my opinion. I find that most people will leave a review easiest when they are unhappy or very happy with the results that they have received when using a provider. Come to find out the attorney they were going to hire was referred by a family friend but was not actually qualified in expertise that they were needing. I mean face it you wouldn’t hire a criminal defense attorney to help you with something that dealt with evictions and their legality.
I also find that I tend to use Google, Yelp and some other websites when looking for references of restaurants and local businesses. Sometimes I find that word of mouth is good when dealing with friends but not two of the same friends always like the same atmosphere, type of food, quality of food or whatever other options there may be out there when looking for somewhere to eat. I find that I am less influenced by celebrities, social media starts or someone that is not closely related, or somehow involved in my life because I always try to have the outlook that they have something to gain by recommending that product. I learned this the hard way a long time ago when I started to let the publicity eye influence the things that I did or what I purchased. I find those that have the funds to experience the high life of things doesn’t always mesh with the style that I am looking for.
When I am looking for products to buy and stuff, I tend to go more to Amazon to purchase products and read reviews because it has a broader spectrum of people that are out there that buy these products. Therefore, there is more of a wide spectrum of ways people will use or review that product.
